6th BAGAIA Commission meeting: more cooperation and mutual assistance 2021-07-19

The 6th BAGAIA (Banjul Accord Group Accident Investigation Agency) Commission Meeting took place from 12 to 14 July, in the Gambia and the State of Cabo Verde was represented by IPIAAM, in the person of the President of the Board of Directors, Eng.º Mário Margarito Gomes and the Executive Member for the aeronautics sector, Eng.º Jorge Rodrigues.

Under the theme “Strengthening BAGAIA through effective regional collaboration”, the signatory countries present at the meeting reached important resolutions, highlighting the commitment of the referred regional agency to help the Member States of the sub-region to comply with the standards of International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) on accident investigation, Annex 13.

Also discussed were the adoption of the 2021 Security Regulations package, the recruitment of technicians for BAGAIA, solutions were presented and the experience of the different States was shared, regarding the many challenges and objectives to be achieved.

It should also be noted that the creation of IPIAAM and the multimodal model adopted in Cabo Verde, which merged two sectors, aeronautical and maritime, favoring an integrated vision in the area of investigation of incidents and accidents in these modes of transport, was mentioned as an example to follow by other member countries of BAGAIA.
