IPIAAM participed in the 30 th meeting of the Marine Accident Investigators’ Internacional Forum (MAIIF), which took place between the 9th and 13 th of October, in the city of London, and was represented by the President of the Board of Directors, Engº Mário Margarito Gomes.

The MAIIF is na internacional, dedicated to advancing maritime safety and prevening marine pollution, throug the Exchange of experiences and information acquired in the investigation of maritime accidents.

During the meeting, which included the participation of maritime accident and incidente investigators, from member states of the Internacional Maritime Organizacion (IMO), relevante topics in the global maritime panorama were addressed, namely, the impacto f Covid 19 on the investigation of maritime accidents, pilot ladder safety, the revision of the Accident Investigation Code (CIA), as weel the Human Factor and its impact on maritime victims.

In this contexto, other issues were also discussed, specifically the reveiw of the MAIIF strategic plan, the need for a shipwreck inspecion and recovery manual, and joint analysis of cases of collings, grounddings and other reviagtion accidents.

The objective of this is to create cooperation and communication synergies between maritime accident investigators, in order to effectivelly garantee maritime operacional safety and simulate exchanges between participants.
