During his 32 years of military career from 1990 to 2013, as a nautical officer he has held several positions in the hierarchy of the Coast Guard Branch of Cabo Verde Armed Forces, such as:

  • Commanding Officer of the Coastal Patrol Vessel - CPV “ESPADARTE”
  • Coordinating Officer of Aero naval activities at the Coast Guard;
  • Commanding Officer of the Ocean Patrol Vessel - OPV “VIGILANTE”;
  • Naval Units Commander of Coast Guard;
  • Head of Naval Squadron of Coast Guard;
  • Head of Coast Guard.

From 2013 to 2019:

  • Harbour Master/Captain of Windward Ports at Maritime and Port Agency;
  • President of National Search and Rescue Coordinating Committee - CNCSAR since July 2015 to May 2021;
  • Single Point of Contact for the preparation and audit process of Cabo Verde under IMO Member State Audit Scheme in 2017;

From 2019 to present:

  • Executive Director at the Board of Directors of the Institute for Prevention and Investigation of Aeronautical and Maritime Accidents, responsible for Maritime Sector.
