IPIAAM, in collaboration with ENAPOR, ENACOL and VIVO ENERGY, promote on October 11 and 12, in Mindelo, the maritime emergency exercise called EMEX 22, whose opening session was chaired by Her Excellency. , the Minister of the Sea, Dr. AbraãoVincente.
Alongside the institutions that make up the maritime system of Cabo Verde, IPIAAM, under its statutory attributions with regard to the prevention of maritime accidents and incidents and also, considering what is embodied in the Cooperation Protocols signed with the aforementioned institutions and companies operating in the maritime sector, intends, through the joint organization of EMEX 22, to identify existing weaknesses and gaps, regarding the performance of the various actors and propose measures with the aim of defining and/or improving existing procedures in the field of security maritime.
This exercise will be carried out in two phases, the first phase consisting of the analysis of the existing legal framework in the maritime area and the second day will be dedicated to the tabletop exercise, in which a scenario of a major maritime accident will be executed: tanker adrift in Porto Grande Bay with possibility of grounding and fuel spillage.
In this way, it is expected to successfully achieve the proposed objectives and thus achieve synergies and strengthen inter-institutional cooperation relations, insofar as all actors share the common mission of promoting operational safety in the national maritime scenario.
