Operational Cooperation to prevent accidents in the maritime sector 2021-02-12

On February 11, at the Ministry of Maritime Economy, in Mindelo, São Vicente, the signing of Protocols for Operational Cooperation and Cooperation in Emergency Situations, which were signed between institutions related to the maritime sector, among which, IPIAAM, Enapor, Enacol and Vivo Energy.

The ceremony was chaired by the Minister of Maritime Economy, Dr. Paulo Lima Veiga and also counted on the presence of representatives of institutions linked to the maritime sector and educational institutions belonging to Campus do Mar which are based in Mindelo.

The importance of maritime safety issues, where aspects related to the prevention, response and analysis of maritime accidents are incorporated, make joint action and interoperability essential, between the main stakeholders operating in the maritime sector.

With the establishment of cooperation between the institutions involved, the intention is to put into practice rules and procedures that aim to prevent the occurrence of maritime accidents within the area of responsibility of Cape Verde.

Thus, in alignment with the objectives of the State of Cape Verde and international and national maritime instruments, cooperation between the institutions in question, symbolizes a collective and synergistic commitment that essentially aims at the holistic implementation of best practices in the field of maritime security.
